music isn't exclusive to a notes system
any way you produce an audible sound with the intention of rhythm is in fact music
the term "musician" refers to anyone who makes music

Not in my book sig
And i've seen countless people that agree
Musicians are people that use an instrument of some sort to follow a set of existing notes and scales
Where drummers will only make a rhythm where the other instruments will follow
I'm not saying being a percussionist is a bad job, It's really important
But it's not being a musician

your opinion can be whatever you want but the literal definition of musician is "someone who creates music" and the often used definition of music is "organized sound", or any audible waveform introduced in to a structured arrangement. It seems that to be "music" the only requirement is human arrangement (or similar) and sound.

Being a musician i learned on my own that music is when several (or sometimes one) instruments play together in sync
Drums, being an instrument, is also in there, but not to create the music
They are there to give a rhythm or "Floor" that the other instruments can stand on
I'm not saying it is any less important than the other instruments, actually i think it's the most important
I just don't think it's music

If a drummer was to play alone, he would not create music, since it would be banging on drums

Tell me sig, if you were to walk down the street and see a guy randomly kicking trash cans with a certain beat, would you call it music?

yes, that would in fact be music if he is making it with the intent of it being rhythmic
your definition restricts music to only sounds produced by string or wind instruments

elitism what are you doing here
get out you don't even fit

I'm not saying that
God, sometimes people can't even debate properly

I'm saying that "Music" is limited to the 13 existing notes
But since drums don't put out any of those, therefor it is not music, it is rhythm

that does in fact restrict it to only instruments that are designed to play on that note system

which would be a selection of wind and string instruments and some percussion instruments

music is not the name for modern musical notation (the note system you describe), music refers to any sound played with the intention of rythm

Of course it restricts it to only instruments that are designed to play those notes
That's why they are built, to make music
When on the other hand, drums and things alike
Are built to make a rhythm

Rhythm is an important part of music, but it's not enough to be declared literal music

Just like i said earlier
And you can ask anyone else
Drums and most other percussion instruments are made for giving the other instruments a base

Not creating the music itself

I'm pretty sure all instruments are made with the intention of producing a sound, not an inaudible framework for producing sounds with other instruments.

Most percussion instruments are made with the intention of being able to produce a beat, something to rely on, just like a metronome
While on the other hand, wind and string instruments are designed to play all those 13 notes, no questions asked

No it is not
It does not follow the 13 existing notes
It is rhythm, not music

while percussion instruments do not follow modern musical notation (which apparently is the only form of musical notation, the world is flat) they do in fact follow another form of musical notation called percussion notation. The fact that it is stilled called "musical notation" should turn you on to the fact that regardless of what system of notation you use it's still music.

It's not modern musical notation, it's been used ever since music was created
Also, i know other notations exist, i just ignored the percussion notations because they simply represent what drum to hit
Call that music if you want
But to me, and to countless other musicians
It's not
User was... Fuck. I can't ban people for sheer retardation.
